HOW STYLIST JACQUI AT MINISTRY OF STYLE UTILISES HER OWN PERSONAL ARCHIVE FOR STYLISH UPDATES:

I keep items even if I don’t much like them at the time or can’t think of how to use a piece, I have found over the years that eventually everything will come back around. In terms of storage it can be hard to keep on top of everything but if you find the space it is worth it. Even if it’s just a few items that you can keep. Or you can concentrate on only keeping accessories, in economic times like these I will often only purchase accessories, you can pick up great pieces in op-shops or new in sales; they can really modernize your clothing.

My current re:finds are a couple of kimono style belts in silver and gold that I bought in Hong Kong 10 years ago (image below). I felt they didn’t work for me until now: then I saw this Harper’s Bazaar cover featuring a new Chloe look. I love the style of the jacket and it will work just as well with this leather-look H&M shacket that I bought a couple of years ago

I do have penchant for the designer Isabel Marant and can’t afford to buy new but I do find her styling quite easy to emulate:

I bought this Kate Sylvester leather-look dress in one of her last sales a couple of years ago and it looks very similar to this Isabel Marant dress on the left: so I styled with a mesh tight-fit top underneath and a western style belt. And I’ll be wearing  my Isabel Marant Bekett trainers that I got off trademe for a few dollars but they have had a fashion renaissance and the prices are way up.
