A PERSONAL STYLING, SHOPPING AND WARDROBE EDIT MAKE-OVER DAY

Finding a personal stylist is a challenge these days. I would always say go with your instincts but also look at such things as a website that reflects the stylist’s personal style and includes images of styling they have done (above) no glaring spelling mistakes and a reasonable price. Also look for a stylist that works as a business not just a hobby.

Booking the Make-Over Package with Ministry of Style is a great way to get everything done in the one day.  To begin with I come to your home and we have a consultation on how you would like to dress, whose clothing/style you admire, what brands you like, what you would and wouldn’t wear  and your budget. I also have a selection of images we can go through to determine a definite look. My philosophy is go with subtle changes to begin with to find your style (otherwise you could end up with a wardrobe full of clothes you never wear) but by all means go for an all-out change if you are up for it!

Then we head to your wardrobe for the editing part of the make-over. We go through your wardrobe and decide what you would like to keep, store, reject or what can be salvaged with accessories and other TLC tips & hints including what could be tailored or customised. I will suggest ideas for pairing pieces already in your wardrobe and take photos to add to your Look Book (more on that soon). By the end of the wardrobe session a pattern starts to emerge of what the client likes and suits and we then decide what pieces you need to add on our shopping trip. This normally takes around 2-3 hrs.

Then we can go shopping! After the initial consultation and wardrobe edit we would have a good idea of what shops (price wise, style, boutiques, high-end, high-street or vintage) we should be heading to. The shopping normally takes 3-4hrs approx. I have a great success rate for finding many great pieces for my clients and I do this by not dressing clients in trendy costumes, and knowing instinctively what works and doesn’t and by not making people into someone they are not. Instead I give you the tools to find the better, stylish version of yourself.

The Look Book: after we have done our successful shop I then go home and put together your very own digital magazine style flip Look Book. Which includes the images I have taken during the wardrobe edit, images of the pieces we have bought and includes tips & tricks for your personal style, shape and future style. I had noticed when I was researching my website that no one was doing anything like this in NZ and came up with the idea of doing a Look Book that you could keep and refer back to at any time. When you receive the Look Book (which can take a few days to put together) it’s a whole new surprise after the day of styling & shopping!
